District Committee Meeting Minutes

Neuse Basin District

February 4, 2003

 Attendees: Bill Sherman, Don Eglinton, John Thomas, Linda Hill, Nancy Alexander, Bill Boyle, Ken Dimpsey, Brian McGuire

 Opening – Bill Sherman opened the meeting at 7:00 with an invocation

 Recognitions – Linda Hill was recognized for receiving the District Award of Merit

                        John Thomas was recognized for receiving the Silver Beaver award

 Operating Committee Meetings

• Membership Committee – identified New Unit Organizer prospects, put plans in place to follow up with any organizations that expressed an interest in starting a new unit but are unable to attend the teleconference on 2/5
• Finance Committee – identified prospects for the Pamlico Co. Chair for FOS

Reported that the FOS campaign is currently at 9.5%

• Camp Promotions – plans in place to follow up with the Order of the Arrow chapter to ensure that camp promotions presentations are being completed
• Activities and Civic Service – identified prospect for Day Camp Director, Spring Family Campout, and planned the Scout Show (P683 to handle the Pinewood Derby, Commissioners to encourage unit participation)
• Advancement and Recognition – plans to contact all Eagle Scouts for Council Banquet, updated information on Merit Badge Counselors (4 applications in)

Made plans to recruit ASM’s that handle advancement in their troops to get involved in this committee

Identified new prospect for Eagle Scout Association Chairman – Trey Paul, Ashley Bleau, Adm. Fred Baughman, Phil Kaylor

• Training – No members present
• District Executive Report – gave an update on the New Unit Campaign, and encouraged everyone to attend the Council Banquet to recognize John Thomas
• Other business – Bill Sherman proposed a phone call tree to remind committee members of the meetings
• The meeting was adjourned at 8:15
