4.      ADC Scouts

5.      ADC Cubs

6.      Roundup

7.      District Meeting

8.      Program

9.      Announcements

1.      Opening.  Ralph read a speech from a School Principal he gave before a football game concerning public prayer.

2.      Len welcomed everyone present.

3.      Unit Health.  The charter for Troop 299 has been turned in.  Pack 442 does not have a Cubmaster.  Melissa Hudgins will take the job temporarily until they reregister.    She will have to fill out an adult registration form for changing her primary job.  The only active boys the Pack has are their own.  Pack 584 is not doing anything.  They have not turned in their charter.  In School units are doing well.  Pack 13 will be 60 years old this year.

4.      ADC Scouts/Training.  Ken reported that  Commissioners Conference will be held December 2, starting at 8:00 AM at Craven Community College.  We have five commissioners who have not been trained.  We still have a vacancy for Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner.

5.      ADC Cubs.  Dan will resign as Cub Roundtable Commissioner.  He has been very

faithful for the past ten years.  Tentatively Darlene Whitfield will take over as Roundtable Commissioner.  At the last Roundtable they had 13 people, represent-

ing six units.

6.      Roundup.  All primary schools in Craven and Pamilico Counties are completed.  Still

have to do Jones County.  Mike wants to do something in the Middle Schools.  Instead of meeting in the classrooms he and Jae Logan will go to the lunchrooms during lunch hour and talk about high adventure, show tapes about camping, Cope, kayaking, etc., hoping to entice them to join Scouting.  We need to increase member-

ship by about 150 boys.

7.      Ken reported on the District Meeting.  It was fairly well attended and was held

September 26 at Christ Episcopal Church.  Eagle Board will also be held there now.  John Thomas had a chart of the District structure, and things the various committees are supposed to do.  The District Nominating Committee and Chairman are trying to firm it up.  We need to give them support and names of people who can do certain jobs.  John Thomas has a list of names for nominating chairman.

8.      Program

  1. Clean Sweep. Dan reported that four Packs participated with 82 kids and 25 adults.  They worked at Lawson Creek, Flanners Beach, Dawson’s Creek and Vanceboro City Park.
  2. The Craven County Safe Communities Coalition held their Expo at the Mall on September 30.  Len and Ken represented Scouting.  They set up tables with brochures.  This is an annual thing and maybe next year we have a longer lead time and be better prepared and get the whole District involved.  Scouts can work on their Safety Merit badges.  There was a Cub Bicycle Rodeo.  Approximately 170 kids attended, not all Cubs.  Jae will be the coordinator for next year.  The Amateur Radio people were also there demonstrating the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) functions.
  3. Popcorn is still moving.  Each selling unit has a contact person who will be notified when the popcorn will be delivered so they can pick it up.
  4. Special Scouts.  We were not able to get Camp Bonner for an overnight camp for these kids.  We will try to have something next year.  This was tentatively planned for the second week in November.  We can NOT have a sleepover.
  5. Spook-O-Ree.  Len is chairman   In the past he had help from the packs, but so far nobody has volunteered to put up stations.  He needs help on October 28th.

9.      Announcements.  Ken had a check for $40 from Mitchells Hardware for an ad in the

Pow Wow book.  Mike will  take it to Council.  Ralph warned about a virus on the computer which messes up sending and receiving E-mail.  It gets in the operating system and memory system.  Norton will block it.

The next meeting will be November 7th.  Ken will have the opening, Mike the closing and Bob West will provide refreshments.
