1.      Opening.  Ken read an e-mail message he received from an old Scout buddy on

      Aviation.

2.      Len welcomed everyone present and introduced Darlene Whitfield the new Cub Roundtable Commissioner.  This was the first meeting she attended.

3.      District Meeting.  Ken gave a synopsis of the Neuse Basin District Meeting.  Tom Copeland attended along with quite a few people.  John Thomas is trying to put together a District Committee, hopefully by the end of the year.  The green sheet, which was handed out, is for everybody in the district to register.  The District organization chart was handed out.  All District Committee people should register with the district as their primary job even if they are registered with their unit.

4.      Unit Health.  The charter for Pack 132 is complete.  Some school charters were turned in, but several are still out.  Pack 641 and Troop 682 are also finished and turned in.  Pack 624 will fold.  They don’t have to register until next February.  They are trying to place the boys in other Packs.  Jimmy Brinkley will follow up on Pack 67.

5.      ADC Scouts.  Only two units attended Roundtable.  Ken said he heard there was now a position of Roundtable Commissioner for Venturing.  Commissioners can earn a Boys Life badge for doing certain things.  We won’t pursue that at this time though.

6.      ADC Cubs.  Jae said  that Family Campout was going to take place this weekend.  He will conduct church service for them on Sunday.  Ken reported that at the last Council Property meeting it was brought up that after the Spook-O-Ree a lot of empty beer cans were found at the camp.  Some people don’t want Cubs at Camp Bonner, but it a Scout Camp for all Scouts, not just Boy Scouts.  There were some good news at the meeting.  John Bush proposed that they quit charging units for using their camp and camping there.  They talked about Camp Hannah Bonner.  If they get it, it could be turned into Cub World and the Cubs could camp at Camp Bonner North.

7.      ADC Special Scouts.  Several charters have been put out and two were turned in.  We need to get Junior High finished by Thanksgiving.  Need to get the video on camp promotion and show during lunchtime and set up a table where kids can get answers to their questions.

8.      Roundup.  There are still schools we haven’t visited.  We have not been to Comfort.  Also we are supposed to go to the Parochial Schools.

9.      Program.

  1. Popcorn pickup is this weekend.  We are down on sales from last year.
  2. Commissioners Conference is December 2nd at CCC.  Registration forms were handed out.
  3. There is going to be a week long Venturing training calleld Powder Horn Venturing in May 2001 for Area 7 at Camp Powhatan, Va.  There are 12 councils in Area 7 and only three people from each council can attend.
  4. Jimmy Brinkley went to Camp Bonner for a camp promotion program.  The council has a volunteer doctor who is really a go-getter.  They are revamping camping promotions and if anybody wants to get involved they are welcome to help.  They passed out some tapes for camping in general.  Len has a tape to combine with fast start.  Any unit that would like to get a tape can call council or Jimmy Brinkley, the District contact person.
  5. Len is sending e-mail “General News” to people on his Commissioner list.  This news is not in the Tar Heel Scouter.  It contains schedules through January 2001.

10.   Announcements.  The next Commissioners meeting will be combined with  Round-

table  meeting for a Christmas party  on December 19th.   Food and snacks will be

potluck.  The January Commissioners meeting will be January 2nd.  Steve has the

opening, Darlene the closing and Len will bring refreshments.
