Minutes of the Meeting

 

 

The following were in attendance:

Len Long                Jae Logan

Ken McCain                Brian McGuire

Jimmy Shine                 MH Pridgen (Council Commissioner)

 

MH Pridgen (Council Commissioner) was introduced as a special guest

Agnes McCain is recovering from surgery and was not in attendance

Darlene will be presented with the Commissioners Arrowhead Award when she has recovered from her illness

Len discussed the new Recharter Renewal Fees Recap Form

Len also discussed the fact that October will start the Recharter period for all units that are due to renew in December

Ken discussed the problem with Troop 160. Apparently, the Scoutmaster has decided to not recharter the Troop. Brian will investigate this matter with the Institutional Head

Jae Logan didn’t have a report to give other than he has been asked to hold the worship service at the Spring Family Campout

Len discussed the three Crews and the problems he is dealing with in trying to recharter two of them

Jimmy Shine notified everyone that the district received a check for $1200 from the Knights of Columbus for Learning for Life

Jimmy also spoke about the $22,000 the Council has been granted by the United Way for 2002

Dan Grummert reported that the attendance at Roundtable is about the same as in the past but that those who attend are much more enthusiastic

Darlene Whitfield is sick. However, Len mentioned that she is doing a great job with the District Newsletter

§         Unit Health / Visitation Reports

1.       Crew 13 – Randy Lovette has requested a new recharter packet and will recharter the Crew

2.       Crew 686 – Cecil Eason is still working on the recharter packet and has had it since last October

3.       Troop 117 – Clark Dimond is still holding the recharter packet and has not completed it

4.       Troop 494 – Needs a new Scoutmaster the troop is not meeting and hasn’t been since last fall

§         District Commissioner Report

Len shared the new District Roster and asked for corrections to incorrect registration status

§         District Executive’s Report

Brian spoke about plans for Spring Roundups – kindergarteners and fifth graders will be recruited from most schools (depending on Packs and Troops involvement)

Brian also spoke about the After- school Cub Scout program he is working on with Bill Rivenbark
