3.
Training
- Nancy
did an FOS presentation. Fund
raising needs to happen in the units also.
We need the support of every individual.
The East Carolina Council has a 2 million dollar budget. Anyone
donating $96 will get a shoulder strip.
For a $250 donation you will receive an unframed picture by Norman
Rockwell and a shoulder strip. For
$500 you will get a framed picture and a shoulder strip.
Len said we intend to visit all units and encourage people to donate.
Blue and Gold banquets should be a good place to promote this.
- OA
representative Gil Respess presented the National OA plan to have an OA
Representative in each Scout Troop/Venture Unit.
This will be a youth leadership position and will provide a liaison
person between the unit and the Chapter and Lodge.
4.
Reports
- ADC
Boy Scouts. Ken wanted to know
how many people were going to Kinston for training next Saturday, January 5th.
Classes are from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
The cost is $5.00, which includes materials and lunch.
This training is in place of the January Cabinet meeting.
Ken also passed out brochures for summer camp promotion.
- ADC
Cub Scouts. Dan reported there
are new neckerchiefs and hats for Cubs.
A different hat for each rank.
- Venturing.
Ken has the new Boy Scout catalog.
Venturing pants cost $64.50. Somebody
is out to make a killing. Talking
about bringing Scouting to disadvan-
taged
kids, they cannot afford it.
- ADC
Schools. Jimmy Shine had his
most successful year for Learning for Life school programs. He has 25 Special Needs units, with 245 kids.
The Learning for Life after school program has three units and 98
kids. Len and Jimmy are going
back to Jones County on the 14th and pick up some more kids.
Jimmy got a round of applause for doing such a wonderful job.
- RTC
Boy Scouts. Dan is starting a
program at Roundtable about doing knot tying.
It will go to three or four levels.
This is to provide some incentive for attendance.
Dan will encourage some kind of recognition.
- RTC
Cub Scouts. Len said that
Darlene is doing a tremendous job for our newsletter, with information about
all units. Darlene reported
that they had about 12 people at the Christmas party.
There was discussion about having a bead board.
Pack 58 had the most leaders the past two or three meetings.
For the toy drive they collected a van load of toys, which went to
New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC and they got a very good reception.
- RTC
Venturing. We have no Venturing
in this district. There was one
unit at 13 but they don’t want to recharter.
Sea Scouting is a part of Venturing. We have one Explorer unit at the Police Department.
Exploring is a function of Learning for Life and they are not members
of BSA.
5.Unit
Health. Troop 494 has been
rechartered. Pack 58 gave Len they
recharter package but there were mistakes (short on money).
Troop 67 will be ready soon. Troop
117 will be ready and problems have been solved.
Troop 67 will have a new Scoutmaster, Buck Loscovitch.
6.
District Commissioner Report. Len
had a copy of all leaders. 40% of
it is wrong. Maybe by May we will
have a good list.
7.
